In today’s digital world, children and youth are spending more time online than ever before. While these spaces offer important opportunities to learn, connect, and grow, they also come with real challenges, including cyberbullying, privacy risks, and exposure to harmful content.
EPCA is proud to have supported the creation of Navigating the Digital World: A Handbook for Families, a comprehensive, research informed guide developed in collaboration with experts at McGill University. This resource translates years of research into practical and accessible tools for families.
The handbook includes dedicated sections for both youth and parents, offering clear explanations of online risks, strategies for staying safe, guidance on respectful online behaviour, and activities to encourage meaningful family conversations. It also includes tip sheets, real world examples, and a curated list of Canadian resources to support families when they need it most .
This guide is not only about safety. It is about empowering families to navigate the digital world with confidence, resilience, and kindness.
