Are You Eligible for English
Education in Quebec?

What is a Certificate of Eligibility?

1.
The Certificate of Eligibility is issued to a child who meets certain criteria.

In order to attend an English school in Quebec all children must meet the eligibility requirements set out by the Quebec Ministère de Éducation, de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche. Learn more about eligibility requirements here.

2.
Contact your local English school board with the School Board Search Tool.

Use the School Board Search Tool to find the English school closest to where you live by entering the first three letters of your postal code in the search box.

3.
Get started with the registration process through your designated school.

Once you have established which English school your child will attend, you can contact the school to find out when the registration period will start. Here is a checklist to get you started.

4.
Don't wait until the last minute to apply for the Eligibility Certificate.

Applications for the Certificate of Eligibility have a late cut-off date; this is usually on June 1st prior to the start of the school year in late August or early September.
