Sexuality education involves both parents and schools. This page contains resources to help you talk to your child about sexuality education, as well as information about what content and topics will be covered at school based on your child’s age and level.
Since 2018, the Ministry of Education has required that sexuality education be included in the curriculum of all Quebec schools. From Kindergarten to Secondary 5, trained educators will provide age- and developmentally appropriate information to each student. In some cases, schools will invite sexuality experts to assist with the delivery, such as a nurse, sexologist, or governing board approved community organization. A parent-friendly information document prepared by the Ministry of Education that contains the content and themes that will be presented in all schools is available at:
Sexuality education in school
Since 2018, sexuality education has had a formal place in schools, according to content developed by the Ministry of Education. The themes covered are appropriate for the students’ ages and levels of development, and they reflect a global and positive perspective on sexuality and human relationships.
