The Public School System and Fees Charged to Parents
The concept of free education is a fundamental part of public education in Quebec. There are, however, exceptions, which are called “financial contributions that may be required from parents” or “fees charged to parents”. Details of these fees are sent to parents before the start of each school year in the form of a school invoice. The EPCA has worked hard to ensure that these fees are well defined and respected.
Bill 144, An Act to amend the Education Act and other legislative provisions concerning mainly free educational services and compulsory school attendance
Brief from the EPCA , submitted on October 10, 2017 to the Committee on Culture and Education as part of the special consultations on Bill No. 144.
